Webcame in to suggest all this. Not sure if you're aware but if all you're doing is 3D text you can select the text layer and then click 3D > "New 3D Extrusion from selected layer". It blew my mind the first time I tried this. Photoshop can extrapolate simple 3d objects from flat shapes. Text is no different.
